About the Chase
The Great Transmountain Bicycle Chase is a one-of-a-kind road cycling challenge where racers attempt to catch an antique-style penny farthing, also known as an “ordinary” bicycle, during the climb up Transmountain Road.
The top three finishers to successfully catch the ordinary bicycle win a cash prize, with proceeds benefiting El Pasoans Fighting Hunger.
This exciting event combines endurance, history, and community impact into a truly unforgettable El Paso cycling experience.
The first-ever Great Transmountain Bicycle Chase takes place on Memorial Day, May 25, 2026.
This historic event could mark the first documented ascent of Transmountain Road by a penny farthing bicycle.
